SCUSD and UPE Reach New Contract Agreement

Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) and United Professional Educators (UPE) have reached an agreement on contract reopeners for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2026. 

UPE represents principals, assistant principals, and various instructional and student support certificated professionals whose work is essential to helping ensure our dedicated Sac City Unified teachers have the tools and support necessary to set our students up for success.

Rosemont High School Robotics to Host Team from Chinese Taipei
Rosemont and Chinese Taipei Teams Preparing for FIRST Robotics Sacramento Regional

Sacramento, CA - The Rosemont High School Robotics team will host a team from Chinese Taipei on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12. This opportunity will allow Rosemont students to engage with students from another country and also allow the Chinese Taipei team to work on their robot following their entry in the San Francisco Regional held the previous weekend.

Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD), Teamsters Union Local 150, and Teamsters Classified Supervisors (TCS) have reached agreements to close out contract reopener negotiations for the completed 2022-2023 school year for each unit.

Sac City Unified Hygiene Drive for Unhoused Students and Families

Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District is hosting a Hygiene Drive. Now through December 22, we are collecting donations of hygiene items to provide to unhoused students and families in need. Donations will be distributed to our unhoused community in the weeks following Winter Break.

Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 have reached an agreement to close out contract reopener negotiations for the previous 2022-2023 school year. 

This historic agreement demonstrates the significant value that SCUSD places on retaining and recruiting the finest classified staff to support our students, teachers and facilities. It also ensures that SEIU unit members will be elevated to a salary that is more reflective of their immense value to the District.

Sac City Unified Collecting Winter Jackets for Student Jacket Drive

Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District is organizing a Jacket Drive for its students most in need. Bring new or gently used jackets for students to help them stay warm this winter. All jacket sizes are welcome for our TK through high school aged students.

Jackets can be donated at the SCUSD Serna Center (5735 47th Ave, Sacramento) now through Friday, November 17. In the front lobby, donors will find a large blue bin to leave the coats for kids between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Joint Statement from SCUSD and SCTA Regarding Compensation

The Sacramento City Unified School District and the Sacramento City Teachers Association have reached an agreement to close out the contract reopener negotiations for the recently completed 2022-2023 school year. This agreement comes one day before students begin the new fall semester and after negotiations resumed earlier this month with a commitment by both the District and SCTA to work in a collaborative manner.

Sacramento City Unified School District Announces Superintendent Transition

Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School Board today announced that Superintendent Jorge A. Aguilar will step down at the end of this month. The search for a new superintendent to lead the District will begin immediately.

Superintendent Aguilar’s last day of service in Sac City Unified (SCUSD) is June 30, 2023. SCUSD Deputy Superintendent Lisa Allen will serve as acting superintendent during the District’s leadership transition.

Sac City Unified Board of Education Votes to Rename Three Schools
New names will be Miwok Middle School, Suy:u Elementary, and Umoja International Academy

Sacramento, CA - As part of Sac City Unified’s commitment to confront and interrupt racism and create safe learning environments that are welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring places for all students and staff, the SCUSD Board of Education voted at the June 22, 2023 meeting to rename three schools as Miwok Middle School (formerly Sutter Middle School), Suy:u Elementary School (formerly Peter Burnett Elementary School), and Umoja International Academy (formerly Kit Carson International Academy).
