Bargaining Update
District presents $25 million teacher contract offer

In our effort to make investments to provide students with an equal opportunity to graduate with the greatest number of postsecondary choices from the widest array of options, we are pleased to share that at the September 7th Board of Education meeting, the Board voted unanimously in support of ratifying a three-year agreement with United Professional Educators—a critical labor partner in helping us work toward our goals for improving student achievement.

Learn about 2018-2019 Kindergarten Registration

Parents may register students for kindergarten at their neighborhood school January 16, 2018 – January 30, 2018. After January 30, kindergarten registration will be ongoing at the SCUSD Enrollment Center. 

Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2018 to register for fall kindergarten.

Schools Step and Bike into Walktober

Students throughout the district are participating in events promoting walking and biking to school. The events also raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and to also stress the importance of increasing children’s physical activity, walker safety, and reducing traffic congestion. Reducing traffic also helps improve air quality.

The effort is sponsored by WALKSacramento and includes special school walks, assemblies, and Halloween-themed walking safety programs.

Sacramento Kings Give “Life Skills” to McClatchy Students

Sacramento Kings legend Doug Christie stopped by C.K. McClatchy recently with Sacramento NBA Kings player Kenny Thomas to speak to students in the school’s Men’s Leadership Academy and Brown Issues club.

Christie spoke to the youth about his personal experiences in overcoming adversity and the importance of a positive outlook. After this Life Skills workshop, the athletes warmed up and played a scrimmage game of basketball with their audience.

Now is the time to get help and learn about college financial aid

Applying for college financial aid can be made easy by attending a free Cash for College workshop. It starts with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Application (CADAA).

The application period began Oct. 1, and early application is encouraged. See below for the schedule of district workshops.

To qualify for up to $12,630 a year, students must have at least a 2.0 Grade Point Average and have completed either the FAFSA or the CADAA before March 2.

The Parent Information Exchange (P.I.E) luncheon meetings offer a variety of presentational  sessions for SCUSD parents, staff and community partners.  The meetings are designed to  create ever-growing partnerships with resources that will support the educational, health and emotional development of our families and students. During the meeting, FREE lunch, child care (for children 2 years and older), and Spanish and Hmong translation* will be provided.
