e-Connections Post John F. Kennedy School of Engineering and Sciences

Kennedy and SES Robotics Compete in World Championship

Congratulations to both the School of Engineering and Sciences and John F. Kennedy High School’s Robotics Teams who competed in the World Robotics Championships in Houston, TX last weekend! The World Championship hosted 400 teams representing 10 countries. 

After the qualification round of 10 matches, JFK ranked 9th and SES 42nd. Kennedy was selected to move on to the Semifinals. Although their robot performed well, the team lost the first two matches. This is the farthest any SCUSD team as ever gotten in the championships.

Health Careers in Action at Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School

Congratulations to students from Health Professions High School (HPHS) for being featured in Mental Health California Magazine for its University of California A-G mental health curriculum and their rigorous college preparation courses. 

Health Professions is one of the most unique, innovative and challenging programs in the Sacramento area. At HPHS, students from around the region have the opportunity to experience the many careers in the healthcare field together with a traditional college prep curriculum.

300 Students and Community Members Attend Art of Kindness Showcase Event

Congratulations to our students and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) team for hosting another successful Art of Kindness event last Friday! Approximately 300 students, teachers, administrators and community members attended the culminating event which wrapped up a multi-month campaign to promote random acts of kindness and awareness about the value of social emotional learning.

Superior Ratings Given to Rosemont Wind Ensemble at Golden Empire Festival

We are pleased to share that Rosemont’s Wind Ensemble received unanimous superior ratings at the Golden Empire Festival at Sacramento State University this past Saturday, April 21. This is a Rosemont first!

The band is a performance-centered concert ensemble offered to Rosemont students playing woodwind, brass or percussion. Students prepare and perform contemporary and traditional wind music with the objective of expanding musicianship and technical facility, developing ensemble skills, and better understanding music literacy.

Ms. Jacquie Skinner is an amazing English teacher at the School Of Engineering & Sciences. Emphasizing perseverance and collaboration, she oversees the school’s senior projects, challenging engineering assignments that serve as a launching pad into higher education and careers.
