Step Two
Create a SchoolMint Account & Link Your Student
Before applying , all families must create a SchoolMint Parent/Guardian account.
It is strongly encouraged, to add an email address to your account so that you receive complete communications from the district and not just reminders via text message to check messages on SchoolMint.
Once a SchoolMint account is created, add your student(s) to the account.

Step Three
Apply Online
Students who live within our district boundaries can apply for transitional kindergarten on Tuesday, January 13 starting at 8:00am through Friday, February 27, at 5:00pm on SchoolMint.
Due to the anticipated enrollment of in-district students, the district does not expect to have any openings for out-of-district TK students for the 2026-2027 school year.
Lottery Process

Step Four
Lottery Notification & Acceptance Process
Lottery notifications will be sent to families on March 16, 2026.
In the notification, students will either:
-
Be offered placement at one of their selected programs
-
Be placed on a waiting list for their first-choice program
Some applicants may receive a “Did Not Qualify” message.
All applicants placed on the TK Lottery waitlist will be contacted by the Enrollment Center with offers for available TK openings at other schools, rather than remaining on the waiting list starting the week of April 6, 2026.
Acceptance Process
Families will have four business days after receiving the placement offer to:
-
Accept the placement offer in SchoolMint and
-
Complete the registration form linked in the offer notification
Important: Please use the unique registration link in the SchoolMint email or on the Message Center. Do not use the general registration form on the SCUSD website.
If these steps aren’t completed within four business days, your student’s spot in the program will be offered to another applicant.
Enrollment

Step Five
Official Enrollment in Transitional Kindergarten
Once the acceptance process is complete, Enrollment Center staff will officially enroll your student in their transitional kindergarten class for the 2026–2027 school year.
Families will receive a final enrollment confirmation from the Enrollment Center. Processing typically takes 7–14 business days; however, delays should be expected during high-volume periods. Some schools may also send additional follow-up communications once enrollment is finalized.
Note: Dependent charter schools (Bowling Green Chacon, Bowling Green McCoy and New Joseph Bonnheim) enroll their own students; the Enrollment Center does not handle these enrollments.
