Our Board of Education

The most effective way to resolve a concern is by starting with your child’s teacher. Teachers are often best positioned to address academic, behavioral, and classroom-related questions or concerns.

If the issue remains unresolved after speaking with the teacher, proceed to Step 2.

If your concern is related to your child’s education or the school site and has not been resolved by the teacher, contact the school principal.

If the issue persists after involving the principal, move to Step 3.

District Departments

Concerns related to specific areas—such as Special Education, Student Safety, or Discipline—should be directed to the appropriate district department.

Constituent Services Office (CSO)

The CSO is available to assist and guide parents, guardians, community members, and staff in addressing unresolved concerns or questions. The office can provide mediation support, clarify processes, and help direct concerns to the appropriate department or administrator.

Instructional Assistant Superintendents (IAS)

Each school site is overseen by an IAS, who provides leadership and supervision at the school site level. If the matter remains unresolved after contacting the CSO or relevant department, the IAS may be engaged to support further resolution.

Formal Complaints – Human Resources

If your concern has not been resolved through informal means, you may file a formal complaint through the Uniform Complaint Process (UCP), managed by the SCUSD Human Resources Department.

If a resolution is still not reached, continue to Step 4.

The Superintendent oversees all SCUSD operations and provides leadership across the district. If you have exhausted all communication channels and your concerns have not been addressed, you may contact the Superintendent’s Office.

The SCUSD Board of Education is an elected body responsible for governing the district, providing leadership, and community oversight.

Board members can be contacted individually via email. Community members are provided an opportunity to speak during the public comment section of Board of Education meetings.
