Requesting a School Transfer: District Permits
Sac City Unified offers two types of school transfer permits: Intra-District and Inter-District.
- Intra-District Permits are available to families who reside within Sac City Unified boundaries.
- Inter-District Permits are for families who reside outside the district.
Apply for a 2026-2027 District Permit
The District will be accepting requests for 2026–2027 intra-district and incoming inter-district permits through Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Students who will be entering kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to apply.

Step Two
Create a SchoolMint Account & Link Your Student
Before applying, all families must create a SchoolMint Parent/Guardian account.
It is strongly encouraged, to add an email address to your account so that you receive complete communications from the district and not just reminders via text message to check messages on SchoolMint.
Once a SchoolMint account is created, add your student(s) to the account.
Current SCUSD Students
- Select Yes for the question, “Is your student currently enrolled in Sacramento City Unified School District?”
- Enter your student's Student ID number, first and last name, & date of birth.
This information allows SchoolMint to pull in existing information on file in Infinite Campus, SCUSD’s Student Information System for your student.
New Students to SCUSD
- Select No for the question, “Is your student currently enrolled in Sacramento City Unified School District?” to manually enter your student’s information into SchoolMint.

Make sure to select your student's home address from the dropdown list that appears as you type. This ensures the address is properly verified by the system.
- Information entered will be verified before the application enters the lottery.

Students can apply on Monday, April 27, 2026 starting at 8:00am through Friday, May 15, 2026 at 5:00pm on SchoolMint.

Lottery Notification & Acceptance Process
Lottery notifications will be sent to families on May 26, 2026.
In the notification, students will either:

Be offered placement
-
Be placed on a waiting list
Some applicants may receive a “Did Not Qualify” message.
Acceptance Process
Current SCUSD Students
Families will have four business days to accept the placement offer in SchoolMint once they receive it.
New Students to SCUSD
Families will have four business days after receiving the placement offer to:

Accept the placement offer in SchoolMint and
-
Complete the registration form linked in the offer notification
Important: Please use the unique registration link in the SchoolMint email or on the Message Center. Do not use the general registration form on the SCUSD website.
If these steps aren’t completed within the four business day window, your student’s spot in the program will be offered to another applicant.

Step Five
Official Enrollment
Once the acceptance process is complete, Enrollment Center staff will officially enroll your student in their district permit program for the 2026–2027 school year.
Families will receive a final enrollment confirmation from the Enrollment Center. Some schools may also send additional follow-up communications once enrollment is finalized.

Technical Assistance
The Enrollment Center offers computers and scanners for families to complete and submit applications, with staff available to assist.
