Who can join the Parent Committee?
Any parent/guardian of a student enrolled in the SCUSD American Indian Education Program.
What are the duties of the Parent Committee?
Provide guidance to the school district regarding program offerings and budget allocation for the Indian Education program. The annual grant requires approval and signature by the parent committee. Additionally, the committee aids in organizing graduation and back-to-school events. Members of the committee also have the chance to deliver monthly updates during SCUSD board meetings.
Why is it important to have parent involvement?
Parent voice is so important at the district level. Parents can be the strongest advocates for change and growth by using their knowledge to inform the staff, administrators and programs that serve their students.
